When we first decided to purchase a small house dog, we started with "Tess". Having lacking knowledge of the Miniature Schnauzer breed and always believing they were "little annoying ankle bitters", we decided to give Tess a try as she was so cute and held herself with pride. Our opinion on the Miniature Schnauzer breed quickly changed. Tess is playful and very intelligent. Although she is more "close" to Jennifer, she loves the attention all of the family gives to her. Tess is often most noticed for her small size and is often mistaken for a puppy. When her hair is long, she is often mistaken for a yorkie as well.
Because of the qualities and personality of Tess, we decided that we wanted to add an additional member to our family and discovered "Preston". Preston was shy at first but after receiving a bath and haircut, he learned he was "hot stuff" and "irresistable". Preston learns quickly and his coloring grabs the attention of everyone. Preston is most often seen in the arms of Ron as he is "closer" to Ron.

The average size for a Miniature Schnauzer is between 15 to 20 pounds. A Toy Schnauzer, although the term Toy is not recognized by AKC, is between 7.5 to 10 pounds. Originally developed for use a small farm dog, "Ratter", the schnauzer size has allowed the schnauzer to easily adapt to small city quarters. Viewed as charming and attractive companion, the schnauzer is sweet, loving and devoted to his home and family. The Schnauzer is spunky, playful and fearless but not aggressive. He is intelligent and learns quickly and succeeds at Agility. Although he will love the whole family, he often will have a favorite person. The Schnauzer sheds so little that it appears he does not shed at all. Therefore, they tend to cause fewer and less severe allergies in people who are allergic to other breeds of dogs.
